Announcement from The Hong Kong Chu Hai College (HKCHE) – Resignation of President, Prof. Chen Zhi

The Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Chu Hai College (HKCHC) received the resignation letter from Prof. Chen Zhi, President of the Hong Kong Chu Hai College, on February 1, 2024. The Board of Governors has approved his decision to step down from the post of President of HKCHE effective by April 2024.

President Chen Zhi expresses his gratitude that he has been fortunate to have the support of the Board of Governors and the trust of his colleagues since he took up the position in October 2022. He has been honoured to have led the College to achieve significant results and gain valuable personal experience, while at the same time regretting that he is unable to continue his service to the Institute due to family matters and personal development. President Chen Zhi is committed to using his best endeavours over the next month to ensure a smooth transition and wishes the College "all the best for the future and even greater success."

HKCHC is grateful to President Chen Zhi for his leadership and dedicated service over the past year, especially in student recruitment and new programme development. During this period, under the leadership of President Chen Zhi, the College has achieved great success in student enrolment, curriculum development, and global and national collaborations, together with the concerted and dedicated effort of the College management and academic staff.

After careful consideration, President Chen Zhi feels that now is the right time for both the College and himself to begin a new chapter. President Chen Zhi will re-join The Beijing Normal University – Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) as President, where he has served for four years with great affection and taking over as the third President. HKCHC wishes President Chen Zhi the best of luck in his endeavours at the UIC.

 HKCHC will take forward the selection of the new President in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Post-Secondary Colleges Ordinance. The College will continue to uphold its commitment to being "based in Hong Kong, backed by the Motherland, connected to Greater China, and facing the world." It will continue to contribute to nurturing young talent for Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
